Celebrities and Chanel Grand Shopping Tote GST

I hope you readers aren't sick of the Chanel Grand Shopping Tote (GST) after my previous entry discussing the differences between the old version of the Chanel GST vs the new version of the Chanel GST.  For this entry, I would like to share some pictures of celebrities using their Chanel GST.   Since the GST is a classic bag (meaning it is produced season after season), it is always available in the classic colors, beige and black, with either silver hardware or gold hardware.  In addition, every season Chanel will also produce it in seasonal colors, which as the name implies, varies with the season and more than likely the exact shade will not be repeated again.  Rebecca and Catherine Zeta Jones sports the GST in the classic colors while Ashley Olsen totes around a GST in a beautiful spring blue.

Lauren Conrad and Chanel Medallion Tote

Lauren Conrad is another fellow Chanel lover and she likes her Chanels black and classic.  Before she got her Chanel black jumbo caviar flap, she and her Chanel black medallion tote maintained a close relationship for almost two years.  Lauren used her medallion tote while running errands, getting breakfast, and even to black tie events - this just goes to show how versatile the medallion tote is.

After careful consideration, I am parting with my Chanel dark brown caviar medallion tote w/ gold hardware.  It is not the classic black Lauren has but brown is equally as classic and will surely stand the test of time.  Also, while subtle, the gold medallion zipper pull pairs beautifully with the chocolate brown caviar exterior and this would work marvelous with fall outfits!

Rachel Bilson and Chanel Grey Reissue Flap

Rachel Bilson has a spectacular Chanel collection (oh what I would give for it) but best of all, she loves to rotate her purses.  Therefore if something is missed on her the first time, chances are we'll see it on her again in the future; it is a pleasure playing "Spot/Identify the Chanel Rachel is Using" whenever pictures of her arise on the internet.  I noticed that a favorite of her's has popped up quite often in the past year and that is her Chanel grey matte distressed reissue 2.55 flap.

For a limited time (at least until I realize that I really don't want to sell my pretty grey baby), you can emulate Rachel's casual, comfy chic look with a 08A Chanel grey matte distressed calfskin reissue 226 flap.  This is an absolutely stunning grey, it isn't too dark and it isn't too light, it is right in the middle.

Chanel 07A Dark Brown Caviar Grand Shopping Tote (GST) SHW

Next to [hopefully] go to a loving mommy is the gorgeous Chanel 07A dark brown GST. 

In addition to Chanel flaps, I am a huge fan of Chanel classic totes.  It actually pains me to sell this (and I will probably have seller's remorse so don't be surprised if this is off the market in the near future) because this is the old (pre-2010) version of the GST and I know it will be much harder to find should I decide I want it again.  Here's the aesthetic changes done to the GST in 2010: (1) The eyelets/rings on the bag holding the chain is now flat, wider, and engraved, (2) The stitched on leather flat CC logo piece is now stitched into the exterior so the CC is quilted as well, (3) The canvas lining is now a satin lining, (4) The inside D-ring is now a key hook.  Also, this is not a confirmed change but it has been personally noted that the caviar on the new GSTs are not as stiff and sturdy as older GST (take note Chanel, we are not a fan of the declining quality!!).  I had a 2010 black GST and after one full day of using it (half of the time it was on a chair), the corners already had scuffing because the caviar was much softer than older caviars.

There are some changes that I would love to have on this GST (such as the engraved eyelet and the key hook) but overall I prefer this version to the new version.  The sturdier caviar and canvas lining of this tote makes this a great candidate for an everyday tote.

Blake Lively and Chanel Pink Caviar Classic Flap

When news of Blake Lively and Leonardo DiCaprio first hit cyberworld (around May of this year), I remember seeing the pictures of Blake and thinking "man, she makes me want to wear my pink m/l classic flap all summer long!"  Blake paired it perfectly with a white shirtdress and tied [what looks like] a green paisley scarf on the chains.  The pink adds a soft, feminine touch to her crisp white dress, wearing it with one strap gives off a more casual-feel instead of wearing it double-strapped, and the pop of green really brings out the color of the purse.  Seriously though, her outfit complete with the bag, is what I would consider part of a go-to summer wear.

Now you can get your hands on the bag to recreate Blake's outfit!  Because...

... After much deliberation, I decided to sell my Chanel pink classic flap as it deserves to be used instead of resting pretty in its dustbag and box. You are not limited to wearing this like how Blake wore her's - this would also be stunning paired with spring pastels and summer brights.  And the beauty of m/l flaps?  The versatility they offer!  For a springtime wedding/date, wear it double strapped either on your shoulder or as a clutch with the chains dangling on the front of your hands.  For a casual summer stroll, wear it single-strapped (could be cross-body if you are petite).

MINT Chanel Travel Ligne Pink Gold Metallic Tote Bag

The first thing I thought of when I took this pretty pink baby out of its dustbag was "This would be a darling diaper bag!!"  It is the perfect muted shade of pink (assuming one has a baby girl but if you have a boy, the travel ligne comes in a nice light blue as well) and the gold metallic threading adds just a touch of glam. I spent a good 10 minutes or so imagining this on top or strung over the handles of a [currently non-existent] stroller with a fluffy pink blanket flowing out of it.  And then in it would be matching necessities like bottles, pacifiers, diapers, etc.  Unfortunately I had to snap back into reality and come to terms with the fact that it will be awhile before I am expecting so I had better let go of this darling tote.  My hopes is that maybe an expecting mommy will purchase it and the bag can live out my dreams.

What if you're not an expecting mommy?  That's okay too because this tote is quite functional with two zippered interior pockets for easy organizing and a dog-lease clasp for your keys.  It measures 13.5 x 10.5 x 5.75 so it is a good size for work documents, a small laptop, or magazines therefore making this the perfect work tote or even a casual tote.
